Built for
businesses
like yours.
Bamsh was built to give independent businesses, tradespeople, and growing SMEs access to the same quality of digital marketing that used to be reserved for big corporations. That expertise now serves businesses of every size — from sole traders to national organisations — all in plain English, with results you can actually measure.
Why Bamsh
was built
Ten years learning how businesses really grow
Before Bamsh existed, Martyn spent a decade as a Regional Sales Manager at Yellow Pages — working directly with hundreds of independent businesses, tradespeople, and SMEs across the South West. That experience gave him something most digital marketers don’t have: a genuine understanding of what running a small business actually looks like, the pressures owners face, and what they need from their marketing to make a real difference.
A night class that changed everything
When Yellow Pages began moving its clients from the printed directory to websites and online marketing, Martyn enrolled in evening classes at Filton College in Bristol to learn how to build websites properly — coding them from the ground up. What started as practical preparation for selling a new product became a genuine passion. At weekends, he was building websites for his own interest, and something became clear very quickly: building a website is straightforward. Getting it found on Google is an entirely different discipline — and a far more important one.
Teaching the South West how search works
Martyn taught himself SEO — how Google decides which websites to show on page one, and why. He took that knowledge back to Yellow Pages, where it was used to inform the redesign of Yell.com and how customer information was structured on the platform. He was then asked to create and deliver a targeted SEO and digital training programme for Yellow Pages sales teams across the entire South West region — explaining, in plain language, how search engines work and what businesses need to do to appear in results. That ability to explain complex ideas without jargon became the foundation everything at Bamsh is built on.
The businesses nobody was helping
In 2012, the digital marketing industry was dominated by large agencies — most based in London, a few in Bristol — competing for contracts with national corporations and international brands. Nobody was offering genuine SEO and digital marketing services to small businesses, independent tradespeople, and local SMEs. These were exactly the businesses Martyn had spent ten years working with at Yellow Pages. He understood their challenges, spoke their language, and wanted to help them succeed. So he started Bamsh — originally as SEO Company Bristol — with a clear purpose: to give independent businesses access to the same quality of digital marketing that had only ever been available to big corporations. That purpose hasn’t changed. It’s the reason the agency exists today.
A full-service lead generation agency, still doing the same job
In 2018, SEO Company Bristol became Bamsh Digital Marketing, expanding from purely SEO to a full digital marketing service — including Google Ads, paid social, Answer Engine Optimisation, web development, CRM, and video. The expertise built serving SMEs — where every pound of budget has to work hard and results have to be real — now serves businesses of all sizes, from independent tradespeople to national organisations and brands. The team has grown to ten specialists. The approach is still the same: plain English, measurable results, and marketing that actually works for your business — not just on a report.
Built for businesses
that want results
not just reports
When I started in 2012, the businesses that needed help the most — the plumber, the solicitor, the family-run retailer — were the ones being overlooked. The big agencies weren’t interested. That’s exactly who Bamsh was built for. Fourteen years later, that hasn’t changed.
